Oldowan's Offspring is an exhibition about the symbolic value of stones. Artist Paola Bascon gathers found and manufactured items & objects and draws parallels to the origin of technology, faith and language which is linked to the prehistoric encounter of human beings with stones. Oldowan’s Offspring is an examination of the origin of the spoken word and it’s connection with the development of prehistoric stone tools. The gathered material is displayed and combined with video, sound and installation.

Graduated from the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design, Paola Bascón lives and works in Berlin and La Paz. Her work can be defined as a curatorial and artistic practice about syncretistic rituals, using fieldwork as a starting point, she tries to portray the role and use of handcrafted objects and the relationship of rituals to personal and collective memory
