WORKSHOP
The London Pickle Project Workshop
— Designer Alice Naylor + Chef Sadhdh Moore
23rd – 24th of June 2018

Join Alice Naylor and chef Sadhdh Moore! You will learn to make pickles from late summer and early autumn bounty, and you will walk away with a few recipes to try at home, some jars of pickle to perk up your dinner.

Gleanings the useful remnants of a crop that can be gathered from the field, farm or your local greengrocer. More elegant a word than waste, the London Pickle Project addresses how we repurpose food that might get thrown away and store it for the shorterl days ahead. Add a burst of flavour, a dash of colour: a jewel on the edge of the plate. Alice Naylor, sometime chef, in collaboration with the Skip Kitchen in Kings Cross, promotes the best of excess fruit and veg. produce with a workshop demonstrating how to make the most of the contents from your fridge, garden or window box. The London Pickle project gives you ideas and recipes for jewelled jars to grace your fridge, shelves and plates.

This is a hands on workshop: you’ll be chopping, bubbling and boiling the gleaings of late summer and early autumn and will take home recipe cards and jars of bounty. Alice has commissioned bespoke pickle jars from ceramicist Simone Potter, which will be available to buy on the day. They’ll store the fruits of your labour quite elegantly over the coming months. What is a "London pickle"? Bring along your ideas, your cultural heritage, a spice that tells us where your food roots lie and we'll show you how to make your London pickle. On Sunday 24th, we will be joined by Skip Kitchen chef Sabhdh Moore, co-founder of The Sustainable Food Story who will be sharing her sustainable food stories.
