Abel Shah showed a multi media installation concerning (re)presentation, branding and the desire of things in a virtual and physical world.

EXHIBITION
FLAVOR RAINBOW
— AbelShah
19th – 21st May 2017

For their launch show at Playground, Abel Shah is showing a multi media installation concerning (re)presentation, branding and the desire of things in a virtual and physical world, while exploring the process of an artistic collaboration. With the absence of objects highlighting the aesthetic and visual language of branded imagery, the relationship between the product and image becomes reversible. The removal of ‘things’ elevates the collective language of advertising, branding and marketing. From the obsession of the ‘concept store’ as a modern phenomenon, Abel Shah has created a space where atmosphere is the story. Inspired by the absurd luxury and competitiveness of branded water, Flavour Rainbow touches upon the emptiness of water as a commodity and the power of marketing tools. Abel Shah is an collaboration between artists Alex Bell and Giulia Shah.

About

Giulia Shah
produces works in a variety of media that investigate the status of ‘things’ in an ever dematerialised world through the concept of (re)production, mark making and traces. During the process of making and the recording of this production questions concerning the blurred border between image and object, high and low culture and conservation and neglect arise.
