11th – 12th of August 2018
For their second solo show at Playground, Abel Shah continued with the second part of what they call the 4 part ‘Based on a True Story’ series. Part one Faking Things / The Real Deal was shown at Cavalcanti London in November 2017 continued by a three month research residency at Hangar Lisbon.
Working collaboratively, with an open and experimental approach, Abel Shah’s work manifests itself into multi-media installations, investigating the relationship between object and image, (re)presentation of ‘things’ in a virtual and physical world and structures of value. With a fascination for the fine line between the spectacle and ‘reality’ Science Faction continues to explore the (un)real through installation and printed matter. Symbols of time, rotating dinosaurs and tinned foods enter into our everyday world of science, fiction and fact. Inspired by a quote found on google search ‘There‘s No Such Thing As Proof In The Scientific World – There‘s Only Evidence’ Science Faction explores the relationship between human nature, science, technology and always changing truths.
